• Amoor-e-Tuluba 2009 Plan

This section contains the plan of activities to, inshaAllah, be carried out by the National Amoor-e-Tuluba Department for the year 2008-2009.

    National Events

This year the team plans to hold the below national events.  At the present time dates and venues are to be confirmed, however some indication of a preferred time is given where possible and as always consideration of term times must be thought through.

    • Date (TBC) – Selected Student’s Muluaqat with Huzoor (atba)

This event will be for a limited and select audience of students.  These students should be selected based on merit.  The criteria for selection is to be discussed with Sadr Sahib MKA UK.  It is suggested that this event should be scheduled for the latter part of 2009, in order that ample time is available to select the appropriate students.

If time allows, and it is deemed acceptable by Sadr Sahib, we propose to have a few of the selected students give a short presentation to Huzoor (atba) on relevant subjects (e.g. a short summary of their PHD, or a presentation about the difficulties faced by students in universities).

    • Date (TBC) – National Career’s Seminar – Venue (TBC)

This event may be run in a similar fashion to previous years, with speakers invited from many different sectors to present on their respective careers.  However, based on a red book point from last year’s event, it will be considered whether it is better to organise the event with selected career based presentations.

This year we plan to invite external organisations to attend our event with the view of recruiting members, or encouraging recruitment of members into their organisations.

It is proposed that this event should take place early in 2009, in order that students have an opportunity to consider their career aspirations early on and also so that those wishing to apply for jobs with particular organisations can do so within their prescribed timelines.  In order to ensure we have a good attendance at this year’s event we will inshAllah aim to enquire from our existing student database in advance as to which careers they wish to have represented at the event.

It is proposed that the venue for this seminar is either in Baitul Futuh Tahir Hall, as this is a good sized hall which can cater for the various stands we would like to have set up for careers and organisations.

    • Date (TBC) – National Student Advice Workshops – Venues (TBC)

NOTE: Further to discussion with Sadr Sahib, it has been agreed that this item should be incorporated into the National Careers Seminar if possible – this is due to scheduling issues.

This event is being proposed to address a number of questions/issues that students of various educational levels may have, such as:

    • Issues with understanding certain subjects
    • Issues with concentration in the classroom
    • Issues with financial support to be able to study
    • Concern about living away from home
    • Concern about being led astray whilst at school/college/university

The format of the workshops is proposed such that attendees will be given an opportunity to voice their concerns / issues in advance of the event, and then based on the feedback received; relevant workshop titles will be arranged.

The facilitators of each workshop will aim to address the various concerns and issues of the group.

As some of the issues/concerns of individuals may be of a sensitive nature, these people will be offered specific advice/assistance in a separate and more personal environment.

Then in a final summary session the groups will come together to present on their workshop activities and feedback to the whole group on their learning/achievements.  If considered viable, we would also like to invite some learned members of the Jamaat to host a Q&A session to conclude the event.

It is proposed that this event should be held both in the South and North of the UK, in order that as many students as possible are able to attend throughout the country.  However, this may be something which should be combined with the regional visits being proposed for this year.  The budget availability may be a significant factor in arranging a national event such as this.

    • Date (TBC) – National AMSA’s Workshop – Venue (TBC)

NOTE: Further to discussion with Sadr Sahib, and due to there currently only being one AMSA in operation in the UK, this event is to be considered only when we have ample number of AMSA in operation.
This event will be an opportunity for the various AMSA committees’s to come together and meet one another.  This session will not only act as a thank you to the AMSA committees for their work throughout the year, but will also aim to highlight successes as well as hardships they each face.

It is hoped that this session will give an opportunity for constructive progression of each of the existing AMSA’s and allow the National Amoor-e-Tuluba team an opportunity to understand better what can be done to expand the AMSA communities in the UK, as well as how to steer them appropriately.
