MUSLIM YOUTH UNITE AGAINST EXTREMISTS

Press Enquiries: Waqar Ahmad Ahmedi 07966 089338 press@khuddam.org.uk

Convention Dates: Friday 24 - Sunday 26 September 2010

Venue: 'Islamabad' in Tilford, Surrey

Young Muslims from across Britain will this weekend unite to oppose extremism.

An annual convention hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, which has more than 6,000 members nationally, will see children, students and young professionals pledge a commitment to peaceful living.

More than 3,000 people are expected to attend the 'Ijtema' in Tilford, Surrey.

The event takes place in the same year that Ahmadi Muslims launched a major campaign promoting their motto 'Love for All, Hatred for None' to the British population. It also comes months after two of the community's mosques in Lahore, Pakistan, were attacked by terrorists, leaving 86 dead and more than 100 injured.

AMYA President, Tommy Kallon, will tell the delegates:

“Hate is as old as history itself. Our arsenal must be knowledge, understanding, wisdom and elucidation and through these inexhaustible resources we must meet head on those who seek to bring destruction and division to our world.

“These must be the very hallmarks through which we are recognised and through which we can inspire the reformation of our youth and instigate an integrated community, a cohesive society, a prosperous nation and, above all, a righteous people.”

Gracing the event with his august presence will be His Holiness, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
