Another Ahmadi Muslim Murdered in Pakistan

http://www.thepersecution.org/press/09/pk090529.html

It is with great sadness that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat confirms that yet another member of it's Community has lost his life in a senseless attack in Pakistan.  Mian Laiq Ahmad (54), a well known Ahmadi trader in Faisalabad, died earlier today after being brutally attacked last evening.  Mr Ahmad is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.

He becomes the 5th Ahmadi to be martyred in 2009 and the 101st to be killed in Pakistan since anti-Ahmadiyya laws were introduced by the Government of General Zia-ul-Haq in 1984.

Currently, throughout Pakistan and in particular within the Punjab, anti-Ahmadiyya conferences are taking place on a regular basis. During these conferences audiences are instructed that there is a duty to kill Ahmadis, and as a result un-educated yet indoctrinated people are led to believe that the bloodshed of innocent Ahmadis is something that will be greatly rewarded.  It is of serious note that yesterday a similar such conference by a group called Khatme Nabuwwat was held near to where the deceased lived.

Actions

As the intensity of the brutal, murderous violence in Pakistan increases against our Ahmadi brothers and sisters; we should intensify efforts to write to our MPs, MEPs and Human Rights Organisations to inform them of each tragic occurrence and keep the issue in their minds.

Please use the details above to explain how these attacks are being planned and co-ordinated on a large scale, with more attacks seemingly inevitable.  Please see below an adaptation of a template letter which we provided with the Malaysia Alert:

Example Letter to Politicians

I write referring to the above Press Release - which is yet another example of the mounting occurrences of persecution against our Community co-ordinated by violent extremist groups and clerics.  I am one of tens of thousands of UK Ahmadis, and tens of Million Ahmadis worldwide deeply concerned about the human rights, welfare and safety of my Ahmadi brothers & sisters in Pakistan.

The tragic irony of the persecution of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan is that the Government is trying to eradicate terrorism and extremism, but since 1973, has overlooked the violent persecution of Ahmadi Muslims.  This very large community of Muslims practices one of the most peaceful and moderate interpretations of Islam in the world - under a renaissance of the true & original teachings of Islam.

In the face of brutal persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia, Ahmadi Muslims continue to advocate universal human rights, non-violent response and absolute justice and have vociferously condemned militant and perverse manifestations of Islam.

They have set up schools, hospitals and welfare programmes all over the world. They have built inter-religious coalitions and fight for basic civil and religious liberties for all.

Indeed, the Ahmadiyya Muslim community provides hope to a world that desperately struggles to understand and embrace Islam's true and peaceful teachings.

Pakistan is embroiled in a desperate fight for democracy and freedom; peaceful, vibrant and progressive communities like the Ahmadiyya Muslims are needed to stop Pakistan falling into the clutches of backward, violent and divisive extremists.

Please do all you can to help my fellow Ahmadi brothers and sisters in Pakistan, and help avoid any further brutality and loss of life.
