The Daily Dawn newspaper has very boldly published a cover story & editorial regarding the Ahmadi Martyrs from Lahore - calling for the Pakistan Government to do more to protect Ahmadis and stop looking the other way when violent acts are committed against us.

A few excerpts as follows:

"Consider also the plight of Ahmadis living in Faisalabad. As this paper reported on Saturday, the government is looking the other way even as they are robbed, threatened and killed."

"The Punjab government needs to act, and act now, to protect Faisalabad’s Ahmadi community and other minorities in the province. But that is perhaps asking too much of an administration whose law minister consorts openly with known extremists."

"A major complaint is that none of the cases involving Ahmedis as victims is investigated properly."

Actions

Please write letters to this newspaper expressing gratitude for, and applauding these bold publications challenging the Pakistani authorities to take more action and protect Ahmadis.

However please also highlight in this letter that  the anti-Ahmadi legislation; the Pakistan Consitution itself declares Ahmadis as non-Muslims and prevents them from practicing their fath.  These blashemy laws facilitate and condone the murderous acttacks against the Ahmadi Community, while radical clerics are allowed to preach hatred and incite vioence in public.  Only by addressing these issues can the Pakistani Government begin to protect the freedom and safety of Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan.

Please email your letter to letters@dawn.com.  It is felt that letters from outside of Pakistan will have more impact and generate comment.

Please also remember to report all your writing activity around these events at:
