The Qur'an incites believers to commit suicide

Mr Glazov

I read your recent interview with Dr Sayed Kamran Mirza, with interest and with a touch of bemusement and despair.  As a Muslim convert of over 10 yrs I can wholeheartedly say that my beliefs, as well as those of the Muslim organisation I belong to, have nothing to do with the kind of depraved religion that your Dr alleges is exhorted by the Qur'an.

Let me state one or two factual things.  The hadith (even 'pure' ones) are subordinate to the Qur'an and cannot be taken at face value.  They were written over a century after the death of Muhammad (saw), and although they contain much useful and even vital information, they also contain many untruths, fabrications, exaggerations etc..etc.. due the nature of the politcal climate in which they were written. This is something that is well known among historians.

We have seen, that anybody can take a verse of any holy book and twist it to suit them, and we have seen that the Qur'an has suffered more that other scriptures in this regard (in recent times).

One way to avoid this common mistake in interpretation, is to look at the conduct of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) himself, for is it written that Muslims have been left 2 things to guide them, the Qur'an, and the example of the Prophet(saw).  History bears witness to the fact that Muhammad(saw) only fought those who directly fought aginst him and his soldiers.  There was a well known class of enemy non- combatants, who were not to be harmed (including old people, unarmed men and women, and children).  This falsifies the claim of people like your Dr and Mohammed Atta (9/11 bomber) that what they do is sanctioned by Islam.  Suicide bombers and terrorists, kill people indiscriminantly, which Muhammad forbade.

The Qur'an also forbids drinking alcohol, something that the 9/11 bombers had a habit of doing.

The fact is, that the Qur'an talks a lot about Jihad, and striving in the cause of Allah, but only lapsed Muslims (to all intents and purposes) with greivences against the west, looking for a quick way to heaven that doesn't exist interpret the qur'an in the manner in which your doctor has illustrated.

He paint a false picture.  It would be closer to the truth to say that the statement 'The Qur'an exhorts Muslims to commit suicide' is a lie, indeed it is expressly forbideen by the Qur'an (4:29,30)

It even says people that commit suicide will go to hell (4:31) so get your learned doctor to explain that one.

The demonisation one of the most distinguished and illustrious personalities in history, and his follwers is not the way to peace in the world

Thank you

Regards

Muhammad Badr
