Dear Editor
I am a Muslim living in Oxfordshire and was appaled to learn that an extremist group is planning a march in Wooton Bassett. This cannot be described as an 'Islamic March' as much as one cannot describe Hitler as a practicing Christian for the actions & views of this minority extremist group are not consistent with the teachings of Islam.
From a very young age, my Imams have taught me and my fellow British Muslims to be loyal to the country that I live in and those who are in authority. I will continue to do so.
That is why outside of any intelligent debate of the merits of the War in Afghanistan as an effective measure against terrorist attacks in this country, British Muslims are duty bound to accept that the British Army are simply doing their job on behalf of all British People.
Therefore the repatriation ceremonies should be respected whole heartedly and compassion should be extended to the families of those who have lost their lives fighting for our country.
I thus whole heartedly agree with Ex-mayor and councillor Chris Wannell who stated that respect paid to those who died for our country is not done for any political reason at all.
