Thank you Waqar for this most informative piece. The Ahmadis have been persecuted for a very long time under a state that sanctions this persecution. This attack, while the biggest, was to be expected given the decades of hate filled policy of the government of Pakistan.

The government of Pakistan should immediately do the following if it wants to close this circle of increasing violence:

1) Close all hate filled madressas
2) Ensure full security of Ahmadis and all religious minorities
3) Immediately repeal the the Second Amendment, that declares Ahmadis non-Muslim, and the Article XX of constitution, that legitimises hate and violence against this community.
4) Arrest all clerics that incite hatred and violence in name of Islam
5) Arrest all politicians who sympathise with the extremists
6) Arrest all extremists and close down all seminaries that house extremists.
7) Ensure full freedom of thought, religion and speech for the Ahmadiyya community
8) Let the Muslim Television Ahmadiyya, the official channel of the Ahmadiyya community to be broadcast to the public in Pakistan. This is the only television channel that has the message of peace in this age.
9) Remove the hate inciting against columns from the ID card and passport applications of Pakistan
10) Let Ahmadis vote in Pakistani elections
11) Apologise for decades of murder, hate and violence against the Ahmadis -
12) Pray for forgiveness from God.
