Repentance enlightens one's conscience

Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih II ra says:

Repentance enlightens one’s conscience and stops a man from committing sins – and in spite of the fact the God is well aware that the man will eventually go back on his repentance. In spite of the fact that He is well aware that the man will again spread corruption, will fight, will use foul language and will lie, God still accepts his repentance. In other words, despite having knowledge of the unseen and being aware that the criminal will repeat his crimes, God only deals with man on the basis of the present. Yet, in spite of lacking knowledge of the unseen, we try to deal with God on the basis of the future. What could be more foolish than this?
