    There are so many events going on in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, on a local, regional or even national level throughout the year – some might find it difficult to know where to start. This section gives a breakdown of the main events that are considered somewhat compulsory for members of the Jama’at to try to take part in as well as some extra-curricular sporting activities and societies that you might be interested in.

    There is such a variety of fruitful activities to get involved in, be it for the increase in academic, sporting and more importantly, spiritual and religious knowledge. It is hard to believe that something does not cater to your unique thirst within our blessed community.

     

     

    Jumu’ah (Friday) Prayer

    The Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer is one form of congregational worship in Islam. It takes place every Friday, with regular attendance by Huzoor (atba) at Baitul Futuh Mosque - Morden. Regular attendance at the Jumu'ah prayer is enjoined on the believer. According to one Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that this congregational prayer is, “twenty-five times more blessed than worship performed alone.” Speeches by Huzoor (atba) on current topics in the media or within the Jama’at are addressed.     Ramadhan

    The Holy Month of Ramadhan marks a time for spiritual rejuvenation in oneself. It is a month within the Muslim lunar calendar that has been prescribed in the Qur’an by Allah, The Almighty, to be dedicated to him in fasting (Ch 2: 184-186). It is a special time, as the Holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (saw) within this month. One is enjoined to fast and participate in congregational Taraweeh prayer, a voluntary prayer where the large portions of the Holy Quran are recited.  Find out more...

    Jalsa Salana

    In 1891, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) under divine command announced that he was the Promised Messiah, and held the first Jalsa Salana (Annual Gathering) later that year at Masjid Aqsa in Qadian, in which 75 members participated. Now, more than 100 years later, Jalsa Salana is established in a number of countries throughout the world, attracting many thousands in attendance. The primary purpose is for individuals to gain religious benefits, the secondary being the promotion of friendship within the Jama’at.     National Ijtema

    The National Ijtema, meaning a congregation of people, is an event that is held each year in ‘Islamabad’ – Tilford, just South of London. There are numerous events for Khuddam to enter within a range of academic, sporting and religious fields. Some of the more popular events within the National Ijtema include the academics (such as speeches in English, Urdu and extempore) and sporting (such as individual athletics events, football, volleyball, weightlifting and tug of war) competitions, prize giving, and BBQ with Huzoor (atba).
