33rd National Ijtema
Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya UK held its 33rd National Ijtema from 30th September to the 2nd October 2005 at Islamabad, Tilford. The Ijtema represents the end of the Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya year but also an opportunity for Khuddam and Atfal to get together and enjoy 3 days of sports and academic events including the traditional BBQ. Our National Ijtema was honoured and privileged to have our beloved Huzur (aba) at the concluding session.
The Ijtema began on Friday with Juma prayers. Rafiq Ahmad Hayat Sahib, Ameer Sahib UK, chaired the opening session and flag hoisting ceremony. He recounted the days when Ijtemas were held at the Mahmood Hall at Fazl Mosque when he was Qaid of London.
Competions
This year, some of the sports events were started on Friday and included football and volleyball. Quiz competitions also began in earnest that very same evening.
On the second day, the academics and sports events for both Atfal and Khuddam were in full swing. There was a special archery exhibition which was hosted by the New Malden Bowman Club which showed various feats. This year, Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya were given their own Gah and dining area. The evening saw the traditional BBQ which was attended by many Khuddam, Atfal and guests.
The third day saw the culmination of the event. Huzur (aba) graced us with his presence and watched the basketball, martial arts and Ansar vs Khuddam tug-of-war competitions. Huzur (aba) honoured Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya UK with a photo session and proceeded to the Final Session.
The theme for this year’s Ijtema was on the importance of the pledge and obedience to the blessed institution of Khilafat. At the end of this year’s Ijtema, every Khadim and Tifl was given a card displaying the Khuddam and Atfal pledge.
Attendance
Total attendance at this year’s Ijtema was 2,877; made up of 1,849 Khuddam, 728 Atfal, 50 pre-Atfal children and 250 guests. This was a significant increase on previous years.
