This year’s Regional Ijtema was held over 2 days to tailor for the 789 Khuddam in the MKA Baitul Futuh region.
Preparation for this event started almost six months in advance by forming an Ijtema committee headed up by the Nazim-e-Ala, Irfan Ahmed Sahib. Months of hard work and planning were put in by the Committee with numerous meetings taking place in the run up to the event to ensure it ran smoothly on the days. Various initiatives were put in to ensure a good attendance, including a concerted attendance campaign comprising of waves of phone calls, house visits, emails and a central mail shot with an invitation card.
The Ijtema began at 9.00am on Saturday morning, with a continental breakfast consisting of croissants and pastries with tea, coffee and even fresh juice and fruits. Khuddam were asked for their Charity Challenge promise as they were registered, and Qiadats began setting up their respective exhibitions, highlighting their histories.
After the light breakfast, the sports competitions started off, with Khuddam playing Badminton and Table Tennis in the Tahir and Noor Halls respectively, while the Region’s cricketers proceeded to the fields for the cricket preliminaries. A strongman arm-wrestling competition was also held in the Tahir Hall. All the Khuddam enjoyed the sports session, with excellent participation in all the competitions.
Soon after the sports, lunch was served, followed by Zuhr Prayer.
The Ijtema’s opening session was held after Zuhr, which was attended by the regional Missionary, Maulana Naseem Bajwa Sahib. Bajwa Sahib highlighted to the Khuddam of Baitul Futuh region, that the mosque they were in, was their mosque, and hence a competition that everyone should be taking part in everyday, is that of waking up to offer Tahajjud at the mosque, along with Fajr Prayer. Failure to do so would contradict our own pledge we have made when adhering to the 10 conditions of bai’at. The academic competitions were then held with Tilawat and Nazm followed by the prepared and extempore speech competitions. Masha’Allah the judges were very impressed with the excellent standard displayed in the competitions.
At 5:30pm Khuddam went for Asr Prayer, after which was the Quiz competition, which proved to be a light-hearted and well enjoyed competition.
Straight after the quiz a barbecue dinner was held, a new feature added to the Regional Ijtema this year. All Khuddam were served kebabs and chicken tikka along with the usual salad, sauces and drinks. A special dinner was arranged at the barbecue with Sadr Majlis, Regional Ameer Sahib and all the previous regional Qaideen of Baitul Futuh invited to share a meal together. Maghrib and Ishaa brought an end to the day.
Sunday began at 8.00am, with a special breakfast of Aaloo Channe with Naan, alongside fresh fruit, pastries and cereals with tea and coffee.
Activities then moved to the sports field, where the semis and finals of the Cricket, Football and Tug of War competitions were held. Despite the weather taking a slight turn for the worse, the Qiadats were still able to display their usual fight and passion on the pitches.
A lovely lunch of chicken biryani was then served, with Zuhr prayers soon after. A formal session was then held to allow Sadr Majlis to address the region. Sadr Sahib spoke on the importance of maintaining high morals, and pointed to the example of Christianity, which has now evolved into a body of political correctness, rather than of faith. The Ijtema was then graced with Maulana Jahangir Sahib’s presence, and he was kind enough to partake in a Question and Answer session, that was thoroughly enjoyed by all Khuddam present. The questions covered a wide range of religious and contemporary issues, such as the afterlife for non-believers, Facebook and marriage.
For the closing session we were honoured with the attendance of Mohtamim Atfal, Najm Khan Sahib. The Ijtema report was read by Regional Qaid Baitul Futuh, Okasha Ahmad Sami Sahib, and this was followed by the prize distribution, which included some special prizes. These were given to special Khuddam for their hard and dedicated work in Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya and in the region of Baitul Futuh. A special prize was given to Zan Khan Sahib, an Alm-e-Inami winning ex-regional Qaid of Baitul Futuh, and he was invited to say a few words.
After the formal prize distribution, Najm Sahib delivered an inspiring and deeply spiritual speech. The silent prayer led by Mohtamim Sahib brought a close to the Regional Ijtema for another year.
