Blood Donation At Baitul Ahad Mosque December 2010

On the 14th December 2010 the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association East Region (AMYA) opened the doors of Baitul Ahad Mosque Newham to the National Blood Service (NBS).  This was the Second donation of its kind to be held by the Association since the inauguration of this Mosque in May 2010.  The event was planned at relatively short notice, as a consequence advertising started in the final weeks leading up to the event. Existing donors were contacted via letters from the NBS and new donors were targeted by AMYA East Region.

The AMYA UK has long been hosting these events in various locations around the country and has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with the NBS.  The Baitul Ahad Mosque venue (a former Synagogue and Church) was evaluated by the NBS earlier in 2010, and it met their requirements fully.  The site was offered for use free of charge by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.

Nine members of the youth association were present during the day and supported the NBS staff with the use of the facilities.  AMYA East Region's Youth Leader Waheed Akhtar was present from the start of the day, he commented "I was proud to be part of this very noble cause and that this is the second such event hosted by East Region."

At the end of the day, 69 members attended to donate of which 58 were actually able to part take.

Comments from the NBS team were that they had really enjoyed the day again and that were really made to feel welcome by everyone from the AMYA organisation.  They look forward to the next donations in May 2011 and long and successful relationship.  Peter Williams from the NBS wrote an email to the Deputy Regional Youth Leader Nauman Khwaja and commented “Our team really like your hall and they are very appreciative of the support they receive from Waheed and yourself”.
