On 24 December 2009, khuddam from Gillingham visited Tennyson Ward (Geriatrics / Elderly Ward) at the Medway Maritime Hospital. The nurse who welcomed the visit took the khuddam around the ward to meet with many of the elderly patients.
Khuddam sat with these patients and spoke to them regarding their illness.  The nurses and patients were presented with a box of chocolates and biscuits and they were all very grateful for the kind donation.

A subsequent visit was also arranged for 2:30pm on Christmas Day, after Jummah prayers to the local Children’s ward. Eight boxes of chocolates were bought for distribution to the children in the ward. Ten Khuddam and a Tifl participated in the event. Khuddam arrived at the hospital reception around 2:45pm where group photos were taken and then proceeded to the Ward. Nurse Annie, who knew the khuddam from previous visits, met at reception. She took the khuddam for a short tour of the ward and they were allowed to enter four different rooms in the ward to meet with the various children and their families.

One chocolate box was given to each child and their family. Two of the patients were too young for the gifts but their parents were very appreciative of our kind donation.  The group interacted with all the patients within the ward and we met each individual in a light-hearted manner to cheer up the children not at home on Christmas day. One khadim impressed all with his array of card tricks.
