Save The Children

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (East Region Branch) went out to collect for Save The Children at West Ham Football Club on Saturday 10th April 2010.

A total of 24 volunteers from AMYA helped collect at the event from 12.00pm until 3.00pm just before the start of the football match West Ham FC Vs Sunderland FC.

Over £600 was raised in what was seen as a significant collection.  Every pound raised for Save The Children helps 4 children, it is hoped that the money raised will help an estimated 2400 needy children.

Nauman Khwaja, AMYA Youth Leader Nehwam said "Charity is the cornerstone of the Islamic faith, and it is the duty of every Muslim, it is a constant theme in the Quranic teaching".

George Burroughs from Save the Chilren emailed AMYA saying:

Hi Adnan & Nauman,

...the final count was a fantastic £615.84. Please pass on my thanks to everyone who helped on the day. It was a real pleasure to meet and work with you all...Katryn Jones is going to post the pictures onto our site with a short piece about the support we are getting from the AMYA. I will also be sending copies with a thank you to West Ham...I look forward to working with you all again.

All the best,

George.
