The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice

Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) Newham Branch, were out collecting for The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice at Charlton FC on Saturday 29th May 2010.

A total of 4 Khuddam (Youth volunteers) arrived at the venue for 2.30pm and collected until around 7pm, and helped raise a staggering £5,000 for The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.

Aijazz Ahmad who was the volunteer team leader for the event said "It was a tiring day, but the end result was very worth it...Khuddam thoroughly enjoyed themselves!".

Nauman Khwaja, AMYA Youth Leader Newham said "Despite the tragic events of 28th May 2010, where two of our Mosques in Pakistan were attacked by terrorists that left more than 90 Ahmadis Martyred, our youth have demonstrated great resolve and responded by helping others in way of charity... we are a peaceful community, who live by our motto love for all, hatred for none and this is yet another small example of us endorsing our motto."

Mike Hey from The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice emailed AMYA saying :

...Firstly, can I say a big thank you for arranging Ijaz and his colleagues to come and volunteer for The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice at Charlton FC the other day...

...The day was a real success and raised about £5K although monies are still coming in. Ijaz and the guys were great at collecting money and directing the 400 or so guests to the hospitality suite. Moorfields really appreciated it and voluntary support will have helped us secure Moorfields support in the future....

Thanks again.

Best regards

Mike
