Alhamdulillah, on the 20th December 2009 Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Hertfordshire held its first event of the year – the Regional Tarbiyyati Class.
Due to the heavy snowfall and difficult driving conditions the event started late and therefore the programme was slightly altered. The day began with congregational Zuhr & Asr Salaat.
Immediately after Salaat the programme began with Tilawat by Usman Choudhry and translation by Yusuf Ginai. This was followed by the Khuddam Pledge by Regional Qaid.
The event then comprised of talks by guests on 3 topics – Rules and Regulations of Salaat, the Importance of the Holy Qur'an and the Sanctity of Marriage.
Our resident Regional Missionary Maulana Faiz Zahid Sahib began proceedings with a talk in both English & Urdu on the common errors individuals performed when offering Salaat and gave a demonstration on the correct method of performing Salaat.
Maulana Sahib also spoke frankly about the conditions which break Salaat and what is necessary to then be in a state of Wudhu again. His forthright manner on sensitive topics was greatly appreciated by the attendees.
Following his talk, the audience was given the opportunity to ask anything regarding Salaat. The response was overwhelming and lasted for much longer than anticipated, with the Q&A session having to be cut short due to time, with many attendees still wanting to ask questions. Insha’Allah the same topic will also be discussed at the next Tarbiyyat class.
Next on the agenda was a talk by Mohamed Arshad Ahmedi on the Importance of the Holy Qur'an. It was a very informative and enlightening talk, illustrated with verses from the Holy Qur'an, Hadith and excerpts from the writings of the Promised Messiah (as). Mohamed Arshad Ahmedi encouraged all Khuddam to recite a portion of the Holy Qur'an daily as it provides endless amount of information and guidance for our daily lives.
Next Arshad Ahmedi also gave a talk on the Sanctity of Marriage. He explained why marriage is such a vital institution in Islam and expressed how the Holy Prophet (saw) demonstrated the perfect example in treating one’s wife.
Both of Mohamed Arshad Ahmedi’s talks were followed by a Q&A session, and afterwards there was a general Q&A on any topic of choice by the audience.
The event then concluded with a few words by Regional Qaid thanking all those involved in the planning of the event and also to the attendees who braved the weather in pursuit of knowledge. This was followed by silent prayers and tea and refreshments were provided for the participants.
The total attendance was 20 Khuddam, 2 Atfal, 1 Under 7 and 1 Ansar.
Although the attendance was much lower than expected, it was still an improvement from the attendance at last year's National Tarbiyyati Class where only a handful of Khuddam from Hertfordshire region attended. This shows that Sadr Majlis Sahib's instructions to decentralise events are already bearing fruit. With more of an impetus from the local Qaideen Insha’Allah many more Khuddam will attend these events and earn an increase in their knowledge.
