Luton Khidmat-e-Khalq Hospital Visit, December 2009

Luton Khidmat-e-Khalq Hospital Visit, December 2009

On 24th December 2009 (Christmas Eve) Khuddam from MKA Luton donated gifts to a local Children’s Ward. A total of three Khuddam went to the Children’s Ward and gave the presents to one of the play leaders.

We had planned to give presents to the children in the Children’s Ward a week prior. I contacted the hospital and arranged a date with them. The play leader that I got into contact with was their main leader. When I told her what we were planning to do, she was very happy and looked forward to our meeting. She told me about the many groups that do the same every year around Christmas time. She also explained to me the procedure, where we just come in, give the presents and then get a short tour of their wards. We created a ₤100 budget with which we bought 34 gifts for babies, toddlers and older children. We also bought a tin of chocolates.

On the day myself, Zayyad Rathor Sahib and Imran Ali Sahib went to the Children’s Ward at around 1.00pm. Imran Sahib brought his five year old daughter along too. When we entered the ward, we were met with some bad news, the original play leader I spoke to was off ill and so we had to speak to a play leader who did not know we were coming. She explained to us that she did not have the authority to allow us a tour of the wards - only the original play leader I spoke to had that type of authority. However, she accepted the gifts and said she would distribute them to the children. Here we got a chance to formally introduce ourselves and the Jama'at. We gave our details, including a leaflet with information about the Jama'at, and described the other activities we do for charity. We told her that if the hospital ever needed any volunteers, they could contact us as we would be happy to help and have at least 20 people who are willing to help straight away when asked. At the end we got some pictures taken and bid our farewells.

We are currently planning on doing another visit in the Easter holidays, and from there we will start monthly visits Insha'Allah.
