SCHOOL VISIT TO

DARUL BARAKAAT MOSQUE

On 9th February 2010, nearly 60 children and 5 teachers from Grove Vale Primary School in Birmingham came to visit Darul Barakaat Mosque under the auspices of the Birmingham West Jama'at. They are studying Islam as part of their year 5 curriculum. A part of that was an educational visit to a mosque.

The group arrived at 10am. After the welcome speech, they were taken for a short tour of the mosque, during which they filled out a question sheet as part of their school work.

Syed Raheel Zakria Sahib, National Naib Qaid Tabligh, gave an introduction on the Holy Qur'an. He then taught them the Arabic alphabet, after which some of the students were able to write Arabic letters themselves. The next session was on the 5 pillars of Islam by Thauban Mwanje Sahib, Local Tabligh Secretary & Regional Nazim Tabligh MKA Midlands. This included viewing an interesting DVD on the subject. The students enjoyed these sessions very much.

After lunch, the group went to view the minaret and dome. They then observed the Adhan, performed by Talha Mirza Sahib (from the school, and son of Amer Mirza Sahib). They then observed Zuhr and Asr prayers. There followed an exhibition of books arranged by Thauban Mwanje Sahib. In particular there were copies of the Holy Qur'an in different languages, which the students found fascinating.

The final session was a speech by Maulana Abdul Ghaffar Sahib, Regional Missionary Midlands. He gave an eloquent speech on the life of the Holy Prophet of Islam (saw) and in a short time was able to cover the most important aspects of the life of the greatest Messenger of Allah.

At the end refreshments were served. Gifts were given to the students and copies of the Holy Qur'an and other books were presented to each teacher.

There was some positive feedback from the teachers. They enjoyed the easy going atmosphere. One teacher commented that it gave them a better view of Islam as opposed to what is portrayed in the media and on TV.

Jazakallah to Local Qaid and Naib Qaid MKA Birmingham West, Mirza Muzzaffar Sahib and Wasim Shah Sahib for their help during the day. Syed Mansoor Ahmad Sahib and Saifullah Arif Sahib for the Ziafat.

Jazakallah to local President Birmingham West Jama’at, Dr Majoka Sahib for his full support.
