Sarai Khidmat an 'Abode of Service'
The History of Sarai Khidmat
After the partition of Pakistan and India Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Pakistan set up its own facilities in Rabwah, in the form of Awan-e-Mahmud of which within its compound housed a guest house. Hazrat Musleh Maud ra, Khalifatul-Masih II was immensely pleased and showed great pride of this facility.
It was thus decided in 1995 that Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya should also have a facility of its own, whereby it would acquire a property to be served as a guest house, commensurating the guest house in Awa-e-Mahmud. The perquisite was that the guest house should be in the vicinity of Hazrat Khalifatul- Masihatba permanent residence at the Fazl Mosque complex in London. After continued prayer from Jamaat members and especially Huzooratba a suitable property was available directly opposite the Fazl Mosque. Thus the first guest house of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya was born at 31 Gressenhall Road, London.
Work on the property was completed in August 2007 and it was blessed with the honour of having beloved Huzooratba inaugurating it and naming it 'Sarai Khidmat' meaning an 'Abode of Service'. Since its inauguration Sarai Khidmat has accommodated many dignitaries, Jamaat auxiliary members and many personal guests of Huzooratba from around the world and within the UK.
I have had the great honour of staying at Sarai Khidmat and I narrate my experience below.

Sarai Khidmat, a Personal Experience
On 7th March 2014 I travelled to London for a day. I set off the 150 mile journey from Walsall to Fazl Mosque not knowing where to stay. I rang up Regional Qaid sb and asked him if I could stay at Sarai Khidmat. He told me that Farooq Aftab sahib General Secretary Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya UK was the person I should speak to. Having spoken to Farooq sb I was given permission and arrangements were made for me to stay there.
Upon arrival at Sarai Khidmat I saw a very beautiful design and layout of it. It had its modern look but kept it contemporary no different to a luxury penthouse apartment. Leather sofas, bi-folding doors, the art, decor and chattels was perfect. Having unloaded my luggage in room 3, the room I was allocated looked out the window, with the view being nothing short of a breath of fresh air. At a short distance your could see the Fazl Mosque and its complex from another angle and its innovative beauty of a landmark created a picturesque scenery.
Being hungry all day due to the extensive travelling hot pita bread, mincemeat, chips, fried fish, along with condiments and a selection of drinks were served. I was astounded at the great trouble they went just so I would not be hungry. During dinner a surprised guest walked in, it was none other than Sadr Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Sahibzada Mirza Waqas Ahmad sahib, I didn't expect him to be hear but was happy that he did so I could meet him.

The washroom facilities had all the necessary essentials and should guests forget to bring any toiletries they need not to worry as all was available upon request. Being over the road to Fazl Mosque meant that it was simple getting to the Mosque for the Fajr prayer behind our beloved Huzooratba.
