Bradford South Gaza Collections

Gaza Appeal – BradfordCity Centre

Following the issues and troubles in Gaza, and instructions to organise collections, Bradford South orchestrated a very successful event within the city of Bradford for the Gaza appeal.  On the 24th January 2009 14 Khuddam took part in collections on the streets of Bradford on a busy Saturday afternoon.  10 Khuddam from Bradford South were joined by 4 members from Bradford North to go forth into the city and appeal to the good hearts of the Bradford public.

Permission had been sought from the council to collect on the streets, and volunteer t-shirts and official collection containers were used.  Gaza appeal posters were also used.

The khuddam were stationed at various points within the city and were in good spirits throughout the day.  There was an excellent reaction from the people within the city centre and with the Grace of Allah the Khuddam collected close to £1,500 in the space of five hours.  All the collectors were lifted and humbled by the generosity of the Bradfordians.  After the collections had finished seven Khuddam then approached local businesses directly on Great Horton Road where a further £150 was raised in an hour.

The day had been organised excellently and the local team worked in conjunction with the regional team.  Collections had taken place throughout the region on that day.  Alhamdulillah everything went very well, may Allah bless all those who volunteered and contributed.
