Supermarket Collections for Humanity First

Monday 11th May 2009 saw the first ever Supermarket collection for Humanity First in Sheffield, which was organised by Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Sheffield.

The Qaid of Sheffield Jama’at (Mr. Faran Rizvi) wrote a letter to a local Tesco Supermarket introducing Humanity First, and what their aims and objectives were. It was requested if we could collect funds for Humanity First from Tesco customers; the store manager kindly accepted our request to collect funds and granted us the next earliest available date which was the Monday.

Having liaised with Regional Qaid (Mr. Yousaf Aftab) and North-East Regional Humanity First coordinator (Mr. Mahmood Syed), the collection boxes along with volunteers t-shirts & caps were collected and then a team of Khuddam (12 in total) were established to work in shifts at the Tesco store to collect funds.

By the Grace of Allah, the Khuddam managed to raise £300 from Tesco Customers.

We have now arranged for another collection on Sunday 14th June 2009 at the same store, and Insha’Allah hope to collect more funds for Humanity First.
