On 21st August 2009, a party of 20 members gathered from across the region (including one from Oxford Jama'at) met outside Masjid Al-Mahdi to set off for an action packed day at Alton Towers, organised by Nasir Mahmood Amini, Qaid of Bradford North. There was little traffic but a lot of clouds and it seemed like the party would not be blessed with the glorious record temperature weather the Lajna trip had seen two days earlier. Once at the park, the party made its way to the main entrance via the monorail, most marveled at the change that had come over the park, one Khadim having last visited over 20 years ago.

To some of the party, going to the Oblivion seemed no different to going to the gallows but the sheer opportunity for excitement kept everybody moving swiftly to experience what the park had to offer, despite the heavy rain. Some Khuddam weren't prepared for rain and it seemed foolish drying off after the Log Flumes as we would all get wet again anyway. The Grand Rapids offered another photo opportunity and then the Khuddam split from the Atfal as they had different plans and neither were ready to give in for the other. The sight of blood in place of water by the Nemesis provided motivation and a bunch of jokes in the 15-minute queue which passed quickly.

The ripsaw provided a brief relief from the rollercoaster action before the queue for the Air. Opened in 2002, it had the longest queue time at the theme park but the 90 seconds of action were worth the 50 minutes of waiting.  Alhamdulillah, the clouds had completely disappeared after scaring many visitors, meaning that there were very small queues. Leading the Forbidden kingdom, the party discovered the sky ride couldn't be used and getting to the next area involved a small hike. This proved to be a blessing in disguise as the party got a glimpse of the extensive gardens of the semi-ruined stately home, including a Pagoda fountain that was built as an exact copy of the To Ho Pagoda in Canton. The views were breathtaking! The party passed the towers and made its way to the main event.

However, the KFC had to wait as the Khuddam were fearful of queue build up at the Oblivion. Throughout the day it was non-existant. The sight of the 88.8 degree drop at 68 miles per hour didn't scare the party as the sense of excitement was infectious for all. After the first trip, they unanimously decided to go again. After the fourth time a break was called for as the Khuddam and out-of-no-where-appearing Atfal took up three tables in the KFC. The Khuddam encouraged (in their own way) the Atfal to try the Oblivion. They loved it!

A break was needed from the Oblivion and Rita. The Queen of Speed awaited the party. The waiting time was extended as the ride broke down but the 0-62.1 miles per hour in 2.2 seconds was worth it. The mixed party of Atfal and Khuddam then made its way back through the towers to go on the Oblivion again. After turn 7 for most and 6 for one, the party had decided to move onto other rides until they found a senior member of the Khuddam who had come with his family. This gave everyone another reason to go on the Oblivion.

The party broke up at this point as some moved back to the entrance where they were to meet at 7pm and some went to take advantage of the shortened queues. The queues were too long for the monorail and the majority found it quicker walking back to the car park. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the theme park and look forward to going back again soon, insha'Allah.
