Macmillan Fundraising Session in Newcastle
On Sunday 13th December, Hartlepool Qiadat was delegated to provide volunteers to Macmillan Cancer Support for collecting money at Morrisons in Byker, Newcastle. We got in touch with Macmillan's fundraising manager for our area and arranged for our volunteers to arrive at Morrisons at 10am.
All the ground work was done by one of our Khuddam, Faheem Ahmed Tahir and his team. All the information was provided to Faheem to organise his Khuddam to attend the fundraising session. Four Khuddam participated in this session.
Fundraising session started at 10.30am. We collected the buckets and stickers from the customer services desk. We started this session with the Du'a (silent prayer) and all four Khuddam started with their own contribution of £1 each.
We were covering both entrances and we had two Khuddam on each entrance standing with buckets.
We had a very successful and busy session and, Alhamdulillah, all four buckets were fully filled and two were half filled. Shoppers were more than happy to donate for this noble cause and they were all given stickers after donating.
The session finished at 4pm and all the buckets were returned to customer services. Special thanks to Faheem, Muhammad Azeem Saif, Awais Ahmad and Muhammad Akram Anjum for sacrificing their time to volunteer towards this fundraising session.
We collected £872.66.
We will be speaking with Macmillan and Morrisons to help us organising similar events in future for Humanity First, Insha’Allah.
