MKA Newcastle Stand for Children

MKA Newcastle Stand for Children

The Charity

The London Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children was founded in 1884.

It changed its name to The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) in 1889.

Its aim then was to protect children from cruelty, support vulnerable families, campaign for changes to the law and raise awareness about abuse.

Our inspiration and vision

Today, the NSPCC is inspired by a belief that we can make a difference for all children – by standing up for their rights, by listening to them, by helping them when they need us and by making them safe.

Our vision is ending cruelty to children in the UK. We believe cruelty is preventable and that through having an inspirational vision we will achieve much greater success for children.

Background

Mohtamim Khidmat-e-Khalq, Shiraz Sethi, liaised with the NSPCC and managed to book collections in B&Q stores across the UK on 24th & 25th April 2010. Mohtamim Sahib cascaded the list of stores to all Qiadats.
Despite Newcastle Qiadat being a relatively small Qiadat, we decided to cover two stores.
NSPCC graciously sent us buckets and T-shirts.

Collection

Efforts were co-ordinated by Qaid Majlis Sahib, who contacted all volunteers prior to the event via telephone and email. All volunteers arrived in Byker and Scotswood at 10am on both days.

Saturday 24th April 2010
A total of four Khuddam and a young Tifl sacrificed their time for this noble cause. Two Khuddam went to B&Q in Byker & 2 went to B&Q Scotswood. Later one young Tifl joined the Scotswood team.
MKA volunteers were deployed at the exits at which we were given permission to collect.
Special Thanks to Awais Ahmad & Muhammad Akram Anjum for sacrificing their full day on Saturday.
Volunteers started the fundraising session at 10am with Du'a. The fundraising session finished at 6pm and all the equipment was returned to Qaid Majlis.

Sunday 25th April 2010
A total of six Khuddam and one young Tifl sacrificed their time for this noble cause. We started the session same as Saturday. Two Khuddam were in Byker and two were in Scotswood. Later, one Khadim and one young Tifl took the position at Scotswood and two Khuddam took the position at Byker.
Volunteers started the fundraising session at 10am with Du'a. The fundraising session finished at 4pm and all the equipment was returned to Qaid Majlis.

The Majority of customers reacted in a positive way and some of them donated very generously.
By the grace of Allah, a very successful fundraising campaign was undertaken by each Khadim and the events were enjoyed by all.

By the grace of Allah, we managed to raise a total of £556.00 for NSPCC.
Once again a big thanks to all the volunteers for pulling this off. May Allah (swt) shower His blessings and bounty on them, and enable them to keep up the good work.

Please remember all who helped to make this a successful session in your prayers and we hope to keep up the good work in the future.
