By the grace and mercy of Allah, we held our Ijtema on Sunday 29th March at Dar-ul-Aman Mission House, Manchester. Sajid Arain, Regional Qaid North West, appointed Shiraz Sethi as Nazim-e-Ala for the Ijtema. A letter to Huzur (atba) was sent immediately after the appointment requesting prayers for the success of the Ijtema. Preparations got under way thereafter, with Shiraz Sethi choosing his Ijtema committee.

Meetings between the Nazim-e-Ala and his secretary were held on a weekly basis to discuss work in progress and to assign other duties to the committee members. Letters to the academic judges were sent out. It was also decided that the committee would undertake three telephone campaigns at regular intervals prior to the Ijtema to ensure maximum attendance. A full committee meeting was held 4 weeks before Ijtema and duties were assigned along with Huzur’s (atba) arrival, which unfortunately for us that Beloved Huzur (atba) was not able to attend this Ijtema instead Sadr Sahib was here.

The actual arrangements commenced on Saturday afternoon, at which juncture the stage was set. The next day's proceedings commenced at 8am. The programme itself commenced at 8:30am with breakfast and registration. Registration was undertaken electronically with the use of laptops and therefore our Tajneed was also updated in the process. The opening session commenced thereafter at approximately 10am, which was chaired by respected Murabbi Sahib and Regional Qaid Sahib delivered an opening address.
After the opening session, all Khuddam proceeded to the sports hall, (Atfal in the mean time finished their academics and vice versa), which was approximately five minutes, drive from the mission house. The volleyball competition took place first for an hour and was followed by the football tournament, which took place for two hours. A 100m sprint was also very strongly contested. Bananas and drinks were provided as refreshments during the sports competitions.

Upon our return to the mosque, we prepared for Zuhr and Asr prayers, which was followed by a Talqeen-e-Amal. Lunch was then served – vegetarian pasta was on the menu! Lunch was swiftly followed by a gruelling arm wrestling competition. The academic competitions commenced at 3pm, which included quiz and along with the standard competitions.

However it was worth the wait as Naib Sadr Sahib (Dr Aziz Hafiz) chaired the final session and gave a faith inspiring speech to all the Khuddam and Atfal. Dinner was served and photographs taken before Naib Sadr Sahib had to depart for
