The Holy Quran

You are the best people raised for the good of mankind; you enjoin what is good and forbid evil and believe in Allah. And if the People of the Book had believed, it would have surely been better for them. Some of them are believers, but most of them are disobedient. – The Holy Quran - Aal-e-`Imran 3:111

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, "Allah, the Exalted, has teams of angels who go about on the roads seeking those who remember Allah. When they find some people remembering Allah they call to one another and say, `Come to what you are looking for;' and they surround them with their wings till the space between them and the lowest sky is fully covered. Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, asks them, although He is best informed about every thing: `What are my servants saying?' They say: `They are declaring Your Perfectness and Greatness, and praising You and exalting Your Majesty.' He asks: `Have they seen Me?' They reply, `No, indeed, they have not seen You.' He asks: `How would they act if they were to see Me?' Thereupon they reply: `If they were to see You, they would engage more earnestly in worshipping and glorifying You and would extol You more.' He would say: `What do they beg of Me?' They say, `They beg You for Your Jannah.' Allah says, `Have they seen My Jannah?' They say, `No, our Lord.' He says: `How would they act if they were to see My Jannah?' They reply, `Were they to see it, they would be more intensely eager for it.' They (the angels) say, `They seek Your Protection.' He asks, `Against what do they seek My Protection?' They (the angels) say, `Our Lord, from the fire of Hell.' He (the Lord) says, `Have they seen the fire of Hell?' They say, `No. By Your Honour, they have not seen it.' He says: `How would they act if they were to see My Fire?' They say: `If they were to see it, they would be more earnest in being away from it and fearing it. They beg of Your forgiveness.' He says: `I call you to witness that I hereby grant pardon to them and confer upon them what they ask for; and grant them protection against what they seek protection from.' One of the angels says: `Our Lord, there is amongst them such and such slave who does not belong to the assembly of those who are participating in Your remembrance. He passed by them and sat down with them.' He says: `I also grant him pardon because they are the people by virtue of whom their associates will not be unfortunate'.'' – Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Purpose of Jalsa Salana

The primary purpose of this Convention is to enable every sincere individual to personally experience religious benefits; They may enhance their knowledge and due to their being blessed and enabled by Allah, The Exalted their perception [ of Allah ] may progress. Among its secondary benefits is that this congregational meeting together will promote mutual introduction among all brothers, and it will strengthen the fraternal ties within this Community...–Ishtihar 7 Dec. 1892, Majmoo`ah Ishtiharat Vol. I, Page 340

Not an Ordinary Convention

It is essential for all those who can afford to undertake the journey, that they must come to attend this Convention which embodies many blessed objectives. They should disregard minor inconveniences in the cause of Allah and His prophet (peace be upon him.). Allah yields reward to the sincere persons at every step of their way, and no labour and hardship, undertaken in His way, ever goes to waste. I re-emphasize that you must not rank this convention in the same league as other, ordinary, human assemblies. This is a phenomenon that is based purely on the Divine Help, for propagation of Islam.– Ishtihar 7 Dec. 1892, Majmoo`ah Ishtiharat Vol. I, Page 341

I conclude with the prayer that everyone who travels for [attending] this Convention that is for the sake of Allah: May Allah, the Exalted, be with him, reward him in abundant measure, have mercy on him, ease up for him his circumstances of hardship and anxiety and eliminate his anguish and grief. May He grant him freedom from every single hardship and lay open for him the ways of [achieving] his cherished goals, and raise him up, on the day of Judgment, among those of His servants who are the recipients of His blessings and Mercy. May He be their Guardian in their absence until after their journey comes to an end. O Allah! O Sublime One and Bestower of bounties, the Ever Merciful and One Who Resolves all problems, do grant all these prayers, and grant us Victory over our opponents with scintillating signs, because You alone have all the prowess and power. Aameen! Aameen!!– Ishtihar 7 Dec. 1892, Majmoo`ah Ishtiharat Vol. I, Page 342

Friday Sermon

Objectives of Jalsa Salana

The Jalsa Salana provides an environment of being in the company of righteous men and women, and therefore one is inspired to improve in his/her personal standard of righteousnessness. We as Ahmadis have made a pledge to give precedence to faith above all worldly matters, and the Jalsa provides the perfect occasion for identifying ways in which to implement this pledge in the best possible ways. The Jalsa also gives us an opportunity to intensify our fervour in the remembrance of Allah, and also to polish up on our obligations towards our fellow human beings.

Huzur(aba) directed the attention towards some of the highest moral values we must all make every effort to attain. It is absolutely essential to shun all ego and progress in attaining righteousness (Taqwa). If one wishes to attain the blessings of attending Jalsa Salana, he must look past any differences or conflicts he may have with fellow Ahmadis. Huzur (aba) said that we are not like other mis-guided Muslims who have ignorant leaders who inspire their followers to slit the throat of innocent people.

The Jalsa Salana is an occasion where the comfort of others must be taken into account and because of such a large crowd gathering in a small vicinity, many instances arise, when one must display an attitude of affection and self-sacrifice towards others, even at the cost of his/her own comfort. Similarly, one must shun all pride and adapt an attitude of humility. Truth, expression of truth and justice must prevail in all our actions, even if it means giving witness against a loved one. Forgiveness and patience are virtues that every Ahmadi must practice.

Huzur(aba) reminded the workers that through their model behaviour and service, they are doing silent Tabligh. But in actuality, every guest (man, woman, child) attending the Jalsa Salana is doing silent Tabligh as well. This exemplary behaviour during Jalsa Salana should not be a temporary display of model behaviour but each individual must endeavour to bring about a permanent change towards goodness. Huzur(aba) stressed on the importance of saying “Salam” to one another.

Workers on duty must discharge their duties with full responsibility and participants are urged to listen to the workers, even if they are younger than them in age. Especially during times of peak congestion, display patience and show exemplary discipline. Everyone, including workers and participants, is in charge of security, so keep an eye on your surroundings and report any untowardly behaviour to the authorities. (more...).
