Glasgow Local Ijtema 2008/09

Glasgow Local Ijtema 2008/09

Alhamdulillah, once again Glasgow Qiadat was able to hold its annual local Ijtema on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January 2009.

The Qiadat began its efforts with a letter to our beloved Huzur (atba) for special prayers. An invitation letter was also sent to Sadr Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, UK, Tommy Kallon Sahib. Sadr Sahib could not attend due to his obvious engagements but graciously requested the Regional Qaid of Scotland, Ahmed Owusu-Konadu Sahib, to represent him.

The Ijtema programme was prepared in conjunction with the instructions set by the Centre. This was posted or given by hand along with an invitation letter from Qaid Glasgow, Khalid Ahmed Bhatti Sahib, to all Khuddam and Atfal in Glasgow. The Nazim-e-Ala of the Ijtema was Imran Ahmad Sahib.

In order to lessen the burden on the Ijtema days, most of the sports competitions such as table football, table tennis and badminton (doubles and singles) were held on Sunday 18 January. The rest of the sports competitions, mainly five-a-side football, were held on the second day of Ijtema. Most academic competitions were also held on the first day of Ijtema.

Academic competitions included Tilawat, Nazm, English and Urdu Speech, Adhan, Extemporary Speech, Quiz and Paigham Risani. Masha’Allah most Khuddam participated in both the academics and sports competitions.

There was an overnight stay facility, where 21 participants (nine Khuddam, 12 Atfal) slept in the mosque.

The Sunday programme started with Tahajjud prayer with 24 members followed by Fajr prayer and Dars delivered by the Regional Missionary of Scotland, Maulana Muhammad Akram Malik Sahib.

Regional Qaid Sahib chaired the closing session. During his concluding address he advised the Khuddam and Atfal to take their Salat very seriously and that under no circumstances should they miss any of the five daily prayers, because that would be the first thing they would be questioned about after their death. He also stressed that one could only be considered a true and sincere Khadim or Tifl if their Salat is recognised as good in the sight of Allah.

The Ijtema concluded with a silent prayer led by Regional Missionary Sahib.
