Edinburgh Ijtema 2010

Alhamdulillah, once again Edinburgh Qiadat was able to hold a very successful annual local ijtema on Sunday 7th of Feburary, 2010 at Edinburgh Academy Sports Centre in Edinburgh city.

The Ijtema programme was prepared in conjunction with the instructions set by the Centre. This was emailed or given by hand along with an invitation letter from Qaid MKA Edinburgh, Muhammad Ahsan Ahmad Sahib, to all Khuddam and Atfal in Edinburgh. The Nazim-e-Ala of the Ijtema was Shoaib Afzal Sahib.

The Ijtema was blessed with the presence of the Regional Missionary of Scotland, Murabbi Dawood Ahmad Qureshi Sahib, Regional Qaid of Scotland, Ahmed Owusu-Konadu Sahib, and some members of Regional Majlis-e-Amila of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Scotland.

The opening session started at 11am with the recitation of Holy Qur’an by Qamar Sultan Gohar Sahib and the Majlis Khudamul Ahmadiyya pledge by Regional Qaid Sahib. After the pledge Ammad Hassan Baloch sahib recited a nazm.

Murabbi Daud Ahmad Qureshi Sahib then spoke to the Khuddam about “Importance of sacrifice (Salaat, self & financial)”. In his speech, Murrabi sahib stressed upon the importance of Salaat and also advised Khuddam to make sacrifices in the way of Islam to gain reward both in this life and the hereafter.

Regional Qaid Sahib was then invited to speak about “Importance of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya and the role of a Khadim & Tifl in the Jama’at”.

The academic competitions for both Khuddam and Atfal started after the opening session. There were four events: Tilawat, Nazm, Adhan, and Paigham Rasani. The competitions ended at 1:45 pm.

The Ziafat team did an excellent job in arranging breakfast and snacks. The lunch was graciously made by Glasgow Qiadat. The lunch arrived at 2:00pm, but as the sports hall was booked between 2:00-3:30pm, it was decided to forego the lunch and finish the sports activities first.

Both the Khuddam and Atfal participated in a number of events/ which included: table tennis, squash, football, tug of war and a 60m race. The sports competition ended at 3:30pm after which Zuhr and Asr prayers were offered.

Regional Qaid Sahib chaired the final session, which included the distribution of prizes to the winners of the competitions. During his closing address, Regional Qaid Sahib read a letter from Sadr Majlis Khuddamul Ahmaddiya, Tommy Kallon Sahib.

Finally, food was served at 4:30pm, which was enjoyed by everyone. The Ijtema concluded at 5pm with a silent prayer led by Regional Qaid Sahib.
