In the name of Allah, the gracious, ever merciful.

MKA Bristol Local Ijtema, Sunday, 19th Jan2014

By the grace of Allah the almighty, Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Bristol held its 12th annual Khuddam and Atfal ijtema on Sunday 19th January 2014 in Brook Way community centre.

Ijtema committee was formed in advance so that every single aspect of ijtema can be taken care of properly whether it is attendance, securing the venue, arranging food, arranging medals etc. There was regular communication between the committee members including conference calls to ensure not even a minor thing slips under the radar during Ijtema preparations.

Attendance campaign was carried out to ensure good turnout at Ijtema. This included phone calls, texts, emails, and personal visits to majority of khuddam specifically the non-attendees of the previous years. With regards to the venue, it was decided to hold Ijtema on a different venue than the usual St.Werburghs community centre. One of the main reasons was to try and build relationships with other local areas / town councils of Bristol by holding an event in a different area and also this would give all khuddam and atfal brothers an incentive to attend Ijtema. Alhamdolillah this decision of holding Ijtema in Brook Way community centre turned out to be fruitful both from tabligh point of view as well as attendance.
On the day, the preparation of the hall started at 9:00 am. All Ijtema committee members present there helped in setting up the hall. Hall was decorated with banners and posters related to the theme of the Ijtema (Advent of Promised Messiah (a.s)) as well as general banner on Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h).

Registration started at 9:30am with light breakfast being provided. The session, chaired by Muhhamad Noman sahib (Regional Ameer South West), started at 10am with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an followed by Khuddam pledge and Nazm. This was followed by two short addresses one by Bristol’s local president Dr. Maaz ur Rehman sahib and second by Regional Ameer sahib. Both addresses revolved around the theme “Advent of Promised Messiah (a.s)”. This morning session concluded with silent prayers.

Straight after this session, khuddam and atfal academics started. Academics included tilawat, nazm, prepared speech, extempore speech, adhan and talim test whereas sports competition comprised of arm wrestling and kalai pakarna.
We were very fortunate to be joined by Sadr Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, Mirza Waqas Ahmad sahib in the afternoon. Upon arrival of Sadr sahib, Regional Missionary Mubarak Ahmad Basra sahib, led the combined congregational Zuhr and Asar prayers. This was followed by a short Talqeen-e-Amal where the life of a very pious sahabi of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s), Hazrat Maulvi Ghulam Rasool Rajeki (r.a), was portrayed to the attendees. Food was then served around 2pm.

Before commencing the concluding session, the finals for the arm wrestling and kalai pakarna competitions were held in presence of Sadr sahib. The concluding session started shortly after which was chaired by Sadar Majlis, Mirza Waqas Ahmad sahib who also addressed to khuddam and atfal on the topic of sacrifice. Sadar sahib gave the example of the great Hazrat Shahibzada Abdul Lateef Shaheed (r.a). The session was then concluded with silent prayers. After that Maghrib and Isha prayers were offered in congregation.

Alhamdolillah the ijtema was a great success. Percentage wise 77% of Khuddam attended and 60% of Atfal attended this Ijtema. By the Grace of Allah the ijtema was enjoyed by everyone throughout the day.
