Assalamu Alaikum All,
With a lot of effort put into by our Regional South Atfal Nazim - Sufyarn Raja and Adeel Shah, two members of the Metropolitan Police attended our local mosque to give us a brief and knowledgeable presentation from which many Atfal benefited.
We started with a brief introduction of the two members and information about the importance of their role in helping out the neighbourhood.
Some topics were:
Knife crime
Gun crime
Vandalism
Speeding
Drugs
Gangs
...and many more
Each Tifl's knowledge was enhanced since they were individually paying their utmost attention and were asking interesting and perceptive questions. The Atfal felt included since they were able to share some of their own experiences in the past of the police service, or witnessing bad behaviour.
We then proceeded to a session where Atfal questions, were asked to the members of the Metropolitan Police.
This was very engaging since the questions were varied, including ‘What is the worst incident you have ever been in?’ and 'Who or what inspired you to join the police force?’
This in my view was very successful since they gave personal and educational responses.
They also passed around equipment used by the police force, e.g. handcuffs, stick, police hats. Some equipment such as pepper spray and walky talky was only shown for distance as by Law it could not be under possession of someone who has no license for it.
This was very beneficial and exciting for the Atfal since it gave them the chance to have a closer look and feel of the life of a police officer.
The day ended with a photo with the Metropolitan Police.
And distribution of Metropolitan Police branded pencils, rulers, booklets and cards.
Snack and drinks were also served outside of the Mosque which were quite amazingly tasty!
By the Grace of God the day went exceptionally well and we hope the Police do visit us again.
Jazakamullah and Wassalam
Adeel Shah
