Nazim Atfal: Tashveen Zafar
The committee met twice a week to plan and check progress of preparations since end of December 2009 throughout the month of January 2010.
The Khuddam and Atfal Programme was prepared by the Nazim-e-Ala and approved by Qaid Majlis. It included Tilawat, Nazm, Speech and Team Quiz competitions. The Nazim-e-Ala was a real asset to the team, as his planning and execution made this Ijtema a real success. Allah bless his efforts.
With the permission of National Mohtamim Sehat-e-Jismani, Qaid Majlis was able to borrow equipment from Baitul Futuh which included the tug of war rope, footballs and markers. The competitions in sports were Football, Tug of War and 100m sprint.
The Academics were totally organised and executed by National Mohtamim Ta'leem, Kalim Ahmad Tahir, who did an excellent job, especially with the team quiz which was enjoyed by everyone.
The West Croydon banner was made in Pakistan, and the local President was able to save us at least £60 on that item.
This year all Khuddam were divided into three groups - Noor, Bashir and Nasir - with Atfal being named the Tahir group. For every group there was a team leader appointed. Nazim Atfal was the group leader for the Atfal.
On the day of the Ijtema the programme started promptly at 10.30am. After the opening session all Khuddam and Atfal went to Wandle Park for the sports event . There was a competitive spirit with a good atmosphere in which all groups participated well. The Tug of War competition was the highlight of the sports. At 1.15pm we arrived back to the Masjid from Wandle Park, and everybody offered Salaat followed by lunch.
The academic competition commenced after lunch in which everybody participated well. All judges also marked the competitions well, so that it was fair and enjoyed by all. In the final session first position holders were given medals, second and third position participants were given certificates.
Zikr-e-Habib was delivered by Mohtamim Ta'leem on the subject of the upbringing of children.
Before the end Qaid Majlis read the Ijtema report with a vote of thanks to all members of the organising committee, judges and members who made this Ijtema a success. Mohtamim Ta'leem concluded the final session with Sadr Majlis' message.
The attendance on the day was 36 out of 63 Khuddam which is 57%. The previous year the attendance was 26 out of 55 Khuddam (47%). Therefore, we had a percentage increase in attendance of 10% for Khuddam. The Atfal attendance on the day was 11 out of 14 (79%).
