KHUDDAM DISCUSSION FORUM - IMPORTANCE OF SALAAT
24th December, 2011
On 24th December 2011, a discussion forum on the topic of ‘Salaat’ was held at Baitul Afiyat Mosque in Sheffield. This was organised by the local Sheffield Qiadat. 11 Khuddam attended this meeting.
Tahir Selby Sahib, Murabbi silsila conducted the meeting . The discussion carried on for over a hour and focused on various developmental issues related to salaat.
Murabbi Sahib explained how prayer was actually a communication with Allah the Almighty and how it should be offered with sincerity and punctuality. He elaborated how when one becomes sincere in prayer, Allah actually speaks to his worshiper. This could be through dreams, visions or revelations. This communion is only possible if one develops a true relationship with Allah and once this is established then this should be nurtured so that it leads us to our ultimate goal of success in the life after death.
We also discussed and learned about the following important points; what to do when people are travelling, what is the actual distance that qualifies a person to read condensed prayer, the importance of timings of prayers, the importance of wudhu (ablution), importance of congregational prayers, how to join in when congregational prayers are already in progress and what to do when one or more rakaat are missed or one does not know which prayer the imam is saying (eg. when Zuhr & Asr prayers are combined).
It was a very informative session and due to its success and benefit, another session is planned on Salaat followed by how to preach (tabligh).
The meeting ended with silent prayers led by Murabbi Sahib then refreshments followed by Zuhr and Asr prayers.
