My dear brothers Khuddam and Atfal,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah. May the Lord of mankind open unto you the gates of His mercy and may He so ordain that you are always accompanied by the supplication of His angels.
Ever since I assumed the mantle of Sadr Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya UK, I have endeavoured to highlight the importance of listening to the Friday Sermons of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih (atba). The words of Huzur Aqdas (atba) are inspired by Divine Light and are truly a source of guidance for all of mankind. In this regard last week, I sent out a message in which I humbly tried to convey some of the points made by Huzur Aqdas (atba) in his previous sermon. This week I would like to do the same by highlighting the importance of Tawakkul, that is, trust in Allah which Huzur (atba) addressed in his last Friday Sermon.
“And he who fears Allah — He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he expects not. And he who puts his trust in Allah — He is sufficient for him. Verily, Allah will accomplish His purpose. For everything has Allah appointed a measure.” (Ch.65:Vs3-4)
This verse of the Holy Qur’an beautifully summarises the subject of Tawakkul. Absolute faith in Allah is a fundamental principal in Islam. The Holy Qur’an is replete with verses which enjoin upon believers trust in Allah and, more importantly, speak of the rewards for the providential ones that do so: “Surely, Allah loves those who put their trust in Him” (Ch3:V161). What prize can be greater than the love of Allah!
The history of religion is also full of many an inspiring example of how Allah came to the aid of His servants who put their trust in Him. In an age where begging was prevalent, Hadhrat Daud (as) is reported to have said throughout his life, from childhood to old age, he had never seen a righteous person begging.
While there are too many examples to recount here, the greatest example of these, as Huzur (atba) outlined in his sermon, was in the person of the Holy Prophet of Islam (saw). As Huzur (atba) explained in his sermon, despite facing persecution of unparalleled levels and despite being unlettered, the Holy Prophet (saw) never once shirked his duties. Any other man would have folded under the immense strain but due to his utter and unshakeable trust in Allah, the Holy Prophet (saw) stood tall and brought about a spiritual revolution that changed the world forever.
We saw that absolute faith in Allah during his migration from Makkah to Madinah when the enemy almost apprehended him and his blessed companion, Hadhrat Abu Bakr (ra). ‘Fear not, we are not two in this cave, there is a third – God’, the Holy Prophet (saw) had reassured his illustrious companion and so it proved to be as the enemy failed in their pursuit.
We also saw that unequivocal trust in Allah, once during a campaign when the Holy Prophet (saw) was separated from his companions and was resting under the shade of a tree. He was awoken by the shout of an enemy who had sneaked to the spot where the Holy Prophet (saw) was resting. He grabbed the Holy Prophet(saw)’s sword and brandishing over his head inquired: ‘O Muhammad, who can save you from my sword now?’ The Holy Prophet (saw) remained reclined and replied with impeccable confidence: ‘My Allah!’ He uttered this with such perfect assurance that even the heart of his disbelieving enemy was constrained to acknowledge the loftiness of his faith and trust in Allah. The short reply so shocked him that his hands trembled and the sword fell from his hands and he, a moment before bent upon the Holy Prophet(saw)’s destruction, stood before him like a convicted criminal awaiting sentence.
The lesson you should draw from this is that which you all wear on your rings and that is: “Alaih sallahu bi kafin abdahu - Is not Allah sufficient for His servant?” (Ch. 39:V.37) Become true servants of Allah and He would provide for your welfare and protection and prosperity. It is inconsistent with the concept of a Gracious God; it is inconsistent with the concept of a Merciful God; it is inconsistent with the concept of God presented to us by the Holy Qur’an and by the Holy Prophet of Islam (saw) that you should put your trust in Him in all affairs and that He should suffer you to shame. Therefore, my dear brothers, in the guise of the humble and the meek, present yourselves in the court of Allah, put your firm trust in Him and rely on Him solely for all your needs. May Allah enable us all to do so and may He continuously favour us with His bounties. Ameen.
Wassalam.
Yours humbly,
Tommy Kallon.
