My dear brothers Khuddam and Atfal,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah. May the Lord of mankind open unto you the gates of His mercy and may He so ordain that you are always accompanied by the supplication of His angels.
The Promised Messiah (as) was sent by God Almighty with a number of tasks, each of which he fulfilled in the most magnificent manner. One of his most important duties, as foretold by the Holy Prophet (saw), was to “break the cross” and this he splendidly accomplished. He brought forth such truths, underpinned by reason and logic, that he was able to conclusively shatter the prevailing doctrines of the Christian faith.
In his most recent Friday Sermon, delivered from Pedro Abad in Spain, our beloved Imam, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (atba), spoke of this part of the Promised Messiah(as)’s glorious legacy. He said that in the centuries prior to his advent Christianity had become ever stronger. Spain was a prime example; for centuries the majority of its population were Muslim. However, ultimately they were forcibly converted to Christianity by the cruel and unjust to such an extent that in the current era there are many people who are not even aware of the glorious Islamic history of Spain.
The power and spread of Christianity was not limited to European countries. In fact in India which, for centuries, had been considered a central hub of Islam, by the 19th Century Christianity was prevailing throughout that nation. Christian clergy had infiltrated the masses and they had become attracted. And as Christianity spread, Islam was being left in the shadow. Considering that the Holy Qur’an had taught that Islam was a universal religion for all times, certainly it had become a sad state of affairs for the Muslim lot. Yet Allah out of His bounty and in keeping with His Promises to the Holy Prophet (saw) sent the Promised Messiah, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (as), to defend the religion of Islam from all attacks, whether they be from Christians, Hindus, Jews, atheists or people of other belief.
The doctrines upon which Christianity were based were proved to be entirely false and inconsistent with all forms of reason. Through direct revelation from Allah the Almighty it was disclosed to the Promised Messiah (as) that Jesus (as) was a Prophet of Allah and nothing more. He had not died on the cross, nor had he been delivered to heaven alive to return in the Latter Days. He had in fact survived the attempted crucifixion and travelled eastwards through many countries to fulfil his prophetic mission. In his book Jesus in India, the Promised Messiah (as) issued conclusive evidence that Jesus (as) lived to an age of around 120 years until he finally died a natural death in India. He also pinpointed the final resting place of Jesus (as) in Srinigar, Kashmir.
The evidence produced by the Promised Messiah (as) was such that Christian clergy were left with no option but to become defensive. They did not know how to respond. The guidance they would give other members was never to enter discussion with any Ahmadi for in their heart of hearts they knew that the Promised Messiah (as) had truly broken the cross once and for all.
Now it is our task to further the mission of the Promised Messiah (as) throughout the world. Huzur Aqdas (atba) mentioned how the majority of Christians in this day and age have become disillusioned with their faith and as a result they have, in general, lost interest in religion. Thus we must first of all revive the interest of such people and remind them that everything has a creator and that the Creator of our universe is Allah, the Almighty. He is a Living God and He has created man with a purpose, that he may worship Him. This is the message that the Promised Messiah (as) brought and this is the message that we must continue to propagate. May Allah enable us to do so and bless us all profoundly. Ameen.
Wassalam.
Yours humbly,
Tommy Kallon.
