A Statement by the UK’s Largest Muslim Youth Group on the Plight of Palestinians

The UK’s oldest and largest Muslim youth group, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association UK (AMYA), categorically condemns the horrific cruelty being inflicted on innocent Palestinians.

AMYA is deeply troubled by the targeting of innocent Palestinians who are being subjected to unconscionable injustice. Moreover, reports that Palestinians are being denied basic human rights, such as access to medical care, are of grave concern.

Speaking about the ongoing hostilities to millions of worshippers during his Eid-ul-Fitr sermon, the worldwide Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, said:

“The (Israeli) police are using tear gas and bullets and now airstrikes have started. They say they are targeting their enemies and militants, but, in reality, horrific and unjust cruelties are taking place and innocent civilians are being attacked… If they (the Palestinians) are using sticks, they are being subjected to heavy missiles and sophisticated weaponry. There is no comparison in terms of the force being used by both sides. May Allah have mercy on the oppressed and may He bring the oppressors to justice.”

Thousands of members of AMYA UK are now being mobilised to reach out to local MPs and organisations in order to raise their concerns about the plight of the Palestinian people.

Abdul Quddus Arif, National President of AMYA UK, said:

‘‘According to the teachings of Islam, AMYA works tirelessly to cultivate in its members a sense of universal justice and morality. In reality, these are values common to all peace-loving people. It is only right, then, that our members reach out to their MPs and remind them, under the banners of #SupremacyofJustice and #InnocentLivesMatter, about the plight of the Palestinian nation and the peaceful role we all should be playing in bringing about real change.’’
