A.M.Y FC Street Cleaning New Years Day

Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth FC Fulfil their social and community duties

On the morning of January 1st 2022, 6 members of the AMY FC team participated in early morning prayers, before the crack of dawn, as well as attending a community street cleaning session, alongside other members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Whilst the world slept, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, young and old attended Tahajjud prayers. Tahajjud is known as the “Night prayers” and requires members to get up before sunrise, when they can observe prayer, asking for special prayers to begin the year with objective to obtain nearness to God.

Members of AMY FC attended Baitul Ehsan Mosque in Mitcham as well as some members attending Aiwane Mahood centre in Farnham for their prayers. After this, they convened around 8am in Aldershot town centre, where they gathered with other members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to clean the streets of Aldershot Town, after the new years celebrations. Bin bags and litter pickers were provided by the local council, and the team ventured around the town centre clearing litter wherever it was found.

As Muslims, there is a saying of the Holy Prophet of Islam (Peace Be Upon Him), that “Cleanliness is a part of Faith”. Also as Muslims, it is their duty to service mankind, serving God, and Gods creation. Therefore, instilling the quality of cleanliness, as well as their obligations to the community, members of AMY FC and AMYA were more than happy to tend to the street, whilst enduring sleep deprivation and hunger.

AMY FC’s objectives are not just on the pitch, their obligations extend to their community, neighbours, and society, and therefore the street cleaning objective was just the first of many for the year ahead.
