It is narrated: “The Holy Prophet (saw) would smile, and the faith in their hearts was greater than a mountain. Bilal bin Saad narrates that I saw them practicing archery, and during this, they would laugh with one another, indicating their cheerful and pleasant disposition. However, when night fell, they became so absorbed in the remembrance of Allah that they appeared detached from the world.” (Mishkat, Chapter on Laughter, Page 406).

Beloved Huzur (aba) said that the Holy Prophet (saw) would come up with ways to keep the companions alert and upbeat. For example, the Holy Prophet (saw) would arrange games among the companions which comprised of such competitions which would display aspects of bravery, might and moral training. This would help increase the confidence, morale and bravery of the companions. Whilst returning from the Expedition of Banu Mustaliq, the Holy Prophet (saw) arranged a race for horses and camels, in which the Holy Prophet’s (saw) camel named Qaswah was the winner in the camel race, while his horse also won the horse race. (Incident mentioned in Friday Sermon delivered by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) on 16th Aug 2024).
