MFL 2025: Matchweek 1 Recap

The first matchweek of the MFL delivered goals, excitement, and standout performances across the league. Slough and Hounslow North faced off in a heavyweight clash, Hayes continued their electric form in a high-scoring match against Southall, and Hounslow South secured their first victory of the campaign in a tense battle with Greenford. The matches showcased the talent and competitive spirit across the MFL, setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.

Slough 6 – 2 Hounslow North

Slough and Hounslow North met in a highly anticipated fixture, and it was Ridwan who stole the show. He opened the scoring in the 10th minute after a neat assist from Rayyan, before doubling Slough’s advantage with a free-kick just minutes later. Hounslow North responded after the break through Dabeer, but Slough quickly reasserted themselves with goals from Rayyan, and Danial, with Ridwan at the heart of the action throughout.

The game was full of energy, and Slough’s attack proved too sharp for North to contain. Ridwan capped his hat-trick with a composed finish late on, sealing a convincing win. Slough’s forward play stood out as their main strength, with Ridwan named Man of the Match for his decisive contribution.

Southall 3 – 7 Hayes

Hayes once again underlined their attacking firepower with a commanding 7 – 3 win over Southall. Faiz gave Southall hope with a fine hat-trick, including a penalty, but Hayes responded relentlessly. Mahir was unstoppable on the day, scoring four goals, while Danial added a brace of two and Salman chipped in with one to complete the scoring.

Hayes’  forward play and precise finishing proved the difference, with Mahir deserving Man of the Match after a performance full of pace, movement, and composure in front of goal. Southall battled bravely and showed flashes of quality, but Hayes’ attacking strength looks set to make them one of the frontrunners this season.

Greenford 2 – 3 Hounslow South

Greenford and Hounslow South produced a thrilling contest full of twists and turns. Playing with only five men at the start, Hounslow South struck first through Asif after a slick move. Greenford levelled through Imran before halftime, but Ahmar’s first goal of the day restored South’s lead. After the break, Umar brought Greenford back again to 2 – 2, only for Ahmar to strike late and secure the win.

It was an ambitious performance from Hounslow South, who showed resilience and determination throughout. Ahmar’s support was the difference, but Shaweer’s calm control in midfield stood out as he dictated the tempo for his side. Hounslow South will take confidence from this much-needed victory.

Captain’s words (Hounslow South) – Ahmar Khan:

“Team started off short as we only had 5 people at that time but we still managed to keep up defensively with the opposition.

By the time the rest of the squad made it it was a dramatic change as we scored 2 goals.

Last but not least for the little push near the end the communication and the play making went well where we was able to score our last goal and win the match

However Greenford still were giving us the right amount of pressure keeping us on our toes and making it more difficult as we anticipated before”

League Standings & Reflections

Hayes’ big win keeps them looking like early title contenders, Slough made a strong statement with their victory over Hounslow North, while Hounslow South’s first points of the season could prove crucial in building confidence. Greenford and Southall continue their search for consistency as the table starts to take shape.

As Allah says in the Qur’an:

Indeed, Allah loves those who rely upon Him.” (Qur’an 3:159)

Just as teams put in their effort each week, success ultimately comes from reliance on Allah and playing with the right intentions.

Looking Ahead

Next week sees Greenford take on Slough in what could be a tough test, Southall face Hounslow South in a battle of evenly-matched sides, and Hayes meet Hounslow North in a clash that promises goals and intensity. Another exciting round of MFL 2025 action awaits.
