The Warriors were up against the top of the league side in a must win match for their chances of survival in this year’s KCL

With Faizan Warraich back in the side to lead his side, the Conquerors won the toss and elected to bat first.

Faizan opened the innings alongside Bilal Muhammad, and the start for the conquerors was less than ideal with Faizan’s return with the bat not lasting too long due to a run out with the score at 20-1 in the 3rd over. Bilal and Munaf took their time to understand the pace of the wicket and built a strong partnership. The chemistry between the pair has always been brilliant, and both players added 101 runs between the two, with Aqib finally breaking the partnership in the 15th over. A foundation was set by the two with the score at 121-2 with 5 overs remaining, but the Conquerors could not capitalise in the latter overs as some very good bowling and captaincy by Hammad Butt ensured wickets kept falling without much damage to the total. The Conqueror’s could only muster a further 35 runs with the loss of 5 wickets in the final 5 overs, and ended up with a below par total of 156-7 in their 20 overs.

Searching for their first win and survival, the start was very good for the Warriors as both Sheikh Irfan and Muhammad Waqas raced to 42 in the first 4 overs of the powerplay. A good spell between Harris Usman and Anas from the 4th over til the 8th over produced 3 wickets for the conquerors, and a brilliant run out by Anas in the 10th over put the pressure right back on the Conquerors as they ended their first 10 overs with the score at 80-4.

Usama Abro was not missing out on any opportunity to pepper the off side boundary and played a fantastic hand of 49 runs in 30 balls. He was supported by the young upcoming all rounder Aqib Mahmood who also played delightful strokes straight down the ground. A fantastic 56 run partnership between the two ensured that the match was within the grasp of the warriors, and captain Hammad Butt who’s had a sole ding game as skipper saw off the remaining required runs to register a first win for his side.

The Conqueror’s suffered from their complacent attitude today and have now lost two matches in a row. Aqib Mahmood was pronounced the MOTM for his wonderful all round effort, and the Warriors would now feel confident heading into their remaining games of the season.
